May 2007 Newsletter

 

Our first safari for 2007 was in February to the Everglades, Florida.

Alan and I led the trip.  We all had a great time exploring and photographing Southern Florida.  Here are some pictures from our participants:

The next Safari was to Meadowlark Gardens for Spring flowers, but we were hit with an unexpected early snow fall.  Well, they say when you are dealt lemons, make lemonade, so we proceeded on schedule and shot flowers in the snow.  It was just beautiful that morning and we all had a wonderful, unexpected opportunity.   Here are some shots from the Meadowlark group.

Suzanne Andrews won Photo of the Day with her submission of the cherry blossoms.

 

Last week I checked a safari location for next year.  The Smoky Mountain National Park.  I stayed in Townsend, Tn about 8 hours South of Manassas.  It was quite beautiful but the frost had gotten to some of the dogwoods and the leaves were not out all the way.   Hopefully we can all go next year.  But I persevered and obtain several images that I am proud of, see below:

Our next safari is to Shenandoah National Park on June 16th.  This is the time of year when the fawns are being born and wildflowers are in abundance.  A few waterfalls are easy to get to and the sunsets are spectacular.   We will carpool from Manassas or meet at the park at 8AM.
